In the late 90's the fearless "Aileen Sirgany" a WTTG Local DC Independent FOX reporter took on Monsanto corporation with an investigative report on the dangers of NutraSweet.
FOX?! FYI: There was a time back before Rupert Murdoch's News Corp purchased Fox, that WTTG 5 was a local Washington DC TV station. This story was produced and broadcast shortly after Murdoch acquired the station. This NutraSweet story flew under the radar of the stations new owners. To my knowledge it was not shown on any other of (at the time) Fox's16 other stations. I imagine there's more to be revealed of what happened to the station manager and news director that allowed this news piece to be produced.

G.D. Searle's the pharmaceutical company that made its name in developing cox 2 inhibitors also created aspartame. Monsanto acquired Searle. Donald Rumsfeld served as CEO, and President, of Searle between 1977 and 1985.
