Antoine and Naude from Ocean Conservation Namibia catch and release a young male Cape Fur Seal pup that was bound up in a Ghost fishing net. They spotted him from a distance. It was unclear what the pup was stuck in, they ran towards the seal along the beach and Naude managed to catch the very immobile seal by hand. Antoine immediately got to work on cutting through many coils of thick blue nylon rope, followed by just as many strands of thinner line. The seal pup was stuck in a huge piece of illegal gill-net, which still had its floats on. Floating on the surface, this net would have looked like a fun toy for the poor pup and lured him closer to play with it. After getting caught up in it, he would have no other option than to come to the beach, slowly starving and choking to death and he would not be able to swim or hunt with this burden around him.
As soon as he was cut free he ran off with renewed energy to join his friends waiting for him in the water.

Du kannst nicht nur rausholen, die Meere leerfischen und dann noch ihre Netze zurücklassen.
Man könnte alle Netze mit GPS-Sender ausstatten, dass man nach ihnen sucht und sie sichert.
